FINAL WEEK: August 16 - 22

Old School Action:
It’s time to play another John Carpenter Film (it’s been almost a month, after all). Big Trouble in Little China stars Kurt Russel as the bumbling Jack Burton, as he faces off against the evil sorcerer Lo Pan (played by the always awesome James Hong) beneath Chinatown.

Horror:
For over 40 years, writer/creator Don Mancini has supervised one of the most eclectic horror franchises ever made. Child’s Play started it all, and launched Chucky into horror royalty thanks to a clever script, and Brad Dourif’s killer voice performance.

Science Fiction:
For our final Sci-Fi film of Repmageddon, it seemed fitting to play something properly apocalyptic. Independance Day takes the alien invasion premise and asks a simple question: what if everything blew up? The end result is loud, a little absurd, and a lot of fun.

Outlaw Western:
Set in a collapsing west Texas town, Hell or High Water follows two brothers that start robbing banks to save their family home. With sprawling vistas, deep characterizations, and a willingness to delve into the moral gray, Hell or High Water is a neo-western executed to perfection.
Sunday (8/18) - 4:40
Monday (8/19) - 7:00

Hong Kong Madness:
Even if you haven’t seen Riki-Oh, you’ve probably seen parts of it. Clips of the films cartoonish ultra-violence are well distributed on the internet. For all its outlandishness, it’s also Lam Ngai Kai’s most focused and disciplined film, telling the story of the unjustly imprisoned Ricky, and his superhuman rebellion against corrupt prison officials.
