Staff Picks
Summer 2025

JJ’s Pick
JJ: Cabaret entices you with camp and sensuality, only to throw you face first into fascism. Humor, music, beauty, tragedy, Liza Minnelli — Cabaret has everything you could want in a movie.

Ethan’s Pick

Kay’s Pick
Kay: Mimic always felt like a fever dream. Aptly so, considering it deals with a virus attacking the city's children that’s defeated by modified praying mantises (which - surprise - goes horribly wrong). I remember seeing snippets of it on late night cable as a kid and rediscovering it in my college years. Mimic is Guillermo del Toro's 2nd film, and even in 1997, his voice as a filmmaker is so distinct. It's campy, gritty, dark and magical all at the same time. It's a gem the cinema world forgot, and I'm so thankful to Cinemagic for giving it the big screen rebirth it deserves!

Alex and Logan’s Pick
Alex: It's getting hot and muggy out, so why not match that feeling with a picture that'll make you sweat. Devil's Rejects is my favorite Rob Zombie film, and if you're a fan of any of his work, you're gonna want to catch this on the big screen. With a cast that's chock full of cult actors, an eagerness toward violence, an amazing soundtrack and a pitch black sense of humor, this movie is sure to affect you in more ways than one. Get ready for a hell-billy horror hootenanny with us!
Logan: My favorite part about this staff pick is that my brother and I unknowing chose one of the same movies. Although this isn’t my favorite Rob Zombie flick, he’s playing to his strengths and it shows. Far more nihilistic than House of 1000 Corpses, but it keeps the backwoods fun of the Firefly family in full effect. This soundtrack is killer, and it’s brutal fun for the psychos in your life.
